Driving Experience Technology
Driving modes to suit the conditions and your needs
Behind the wheel of a Mustang, you've got complete control over the way the car drives and handles. At the flick of a switch, you can change between 4 different modes: Normal, Sport Plus, Track & Snow/Wet. Each setting adjusts throttle response, gearshift points (on automatic transmission models), steering effort and stability control calibration. By tuning the car's set-up to the specific demands of a situation, you can drive with confidence in them all.
Enjoy the ride
With a sub frame at its foundation, the Mustang's stiffened body structure helps to reduce roll in corners. A carefully tuned double ball-joint front suspension and multi-link independent rear suspension builds on this to deliver precision wheel control, sensitive steering feedback and outstanding ride comfort.
An epic sound system
The optional Shaker Pro Audio System features a DAB+ Radio and single-CD/MP3 player. 12 speakers, including an 8-inch subwoofer mounted in the boot, combine to provide crystal-clear stereo sound (optional at extra cost).
Go hands-free with SYNC 3
SYNC 3 is our most advanced version to date. It's faster and easier to use, with enhanced voice commands and even more functionality. The new interface has larger buttons for improved usability, and the colour Touchscreen now features pinch-and-swipe gestures found on smartphones and tablets for even more intuitive navigation.
SYNC 3 also features AppLink, Apple's CarPlay and Android Auto, to display your smartphone's information on the touchscreen.
Power-assisted steering that responds to every situation
Electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to your speed and the conditions. At low speeds, the system makes wheel turns feel lighter and easier, improving manoeuvrability. At high speeds, when you need greater control, it firms up the steering.
Now with drift control, EPAS also takes into account crosswinds and other driving conditions, while active nibble control reduces any unwanted vibration in the steering wheel.
Extra control during hill starts
Hill Start Assist temporarily stops you rolling backwards or forwards when making a hill start. The system works by maintaining pressure to the braking system for an extra 2-3 seconds, giving you more time and control as you move your foot from brake pedal to accelerator.
It's also useful when you're stopping and starting on slippery surfaces.
Ford SYNC with Emergency Assistance
An important and potentially life-saving part of Ford SYNC is Emergency Assistance. In the unlikely event of an accident, where the airbag is deployed or the fuel-pump is deactivated, the technology can use a Bluetooth®-paired and connected mobile phone to automatically make a direct call to the Emergency Services for you. You can choose to stop the call, or talk to those services if you need to. Crucially, the system will supply vital information, such as your GPS coordinates, even if you are unconscious.
